Adrienne "Makote" DeGuevara
Adrienne "Makote" DeGuevara, NCMT, CAMTC is a nationally certified massage therapist and holds a BA in Health Arts and Sciences from Goddard College. Adrienne has 900 hours of Therapeutic Massage training and is a nationally certified therapist with NCBTMB. She is a dancer, and artist, and body scholar. Her other training includes; Western-style herbalism, Chinese Five Element theory, Traditional Thai Massage (Nuad Boran), Plant Spirit Medicine, and Mantra Meditation.
After taking a level one course in Thai Massage in 2009, Makote fell in love with Thai Massage and traveled to Thailand in 2012 to further her studies. There, she studied at the International Training Massage school in Chang Mai with many master teachers including the founder Chongkol (John) Setthakorn. She also had the privilege of studying with blind master, Arjan Sinchai Sukparset, a renowned practitioner of Traditional Thai Massage and Thai Medical Massage who spent many years at the Chang Mai University Hospital treating patients with strokes and paralysis.
From 2010 to 2014 she owned and operated Medicine for the People, a holistic health clinic, that housed up to six practitioners and offered workshops, classes, and private services serving Southeastern Vermont.
Through manual therapy and guided imagery, she supports individuals in working through symptoms brought on by imbalances in the emotional body.
In addition to bodywork, Makote is a certified Yoga instructor with 200 hours of training in Vinyasa style Yoga. She regularly uses yoga asana in private sessions to help her clients with chronic pain and postural alignment.
She has also been a student of Mantra and Meditation for four years with her teacher Russill Paul (Anirud Jaidev). Mantra and Meditation as a daily practice gives us an opportunity to be directly involved in balancing our body, mind and spirit. In January of 2015, she accompanied him on a pilgrimage to Southern, India. She also hosts chant workshops with live music.
